Canned Food Drive Ends Monday Nov 19th!!
Only one week left to get your canned donations in!!!!!
Who: All Nursing Students!
What: Canned Food Drive: Donate canned fruits/veggies, pasta sauce, boxed cereal etc & reusable bags
When: Nov 5th-Monday Nov 19th!
Where: Drop donations off in your class boxes in the Learning Center
Why: To benefit a Food Bank called Grateful Hearts. This is the food bank members of The Village use & they also provide for U.S Veterans and disaster relief around the world.
This is the BUSIEST time of year for Grateful Hearts, so it would be great if we could provide them food to hand out JUST in time for Thanksgiving!! By donating food you are donating a little part of your heart to warm their home or dinner on this special day.
+1 point per can!
+2 points per reusable bag!

Volunteers are also needed to deliver the food items to the Food Bank: please contact Natalie Adame (adame.natalie@hotmail.com to volunteer your time :)

August, September & October Community Service Successes!
School Supplies Drive: a total of 392 (yes you read that right:three HUNDRED and ninety two!) school supplies items were donated to the Long Beach Women's Shelter
Pediatric Cancer Dime Collection: a total of $802.20 was raised to be donated to the Jessie Rees Joy Jars Foundation to create jars of joy for kids battling cancer
Alive & Running 5K: 2 basic students and 1 trimester student supported suicide prevention and ran a 5k for this cause
Breast Cancer 5K: CSULB Nursing raised $646 buying pink bracelets & $835 from our tshirt sales! That's a total of $1481!! With the rest of the donations, the CSULB Nursing Team met our goal of $2,000 to go towards the fight against breast cancer!

Starting Monday November 5th, CNSA will have more opportunities for your class to earn more points and help out the Long Beach Community during the Community Service Committee's Season of Giving. When: Oct 3rd 2-3pm and 4-5pm
Where: USU Room 205 "Huntington Beach Room"
Why: Learn more about the American Heart Association walk that your CNSA Community Service Committee is promoting throughout the month of October! The walk is on November 10th and we would LOVE LOVE LOVE nursing students to join our CSULB Nursing Team, help fundraise through special events and activities we will be having through the month of October.
At this event we will:
-Help you sign up for a team...it's free!
-Tell you more about our CNSA Nursing Halloween Party at the end of October "Heart Disease is Scary" that will benefit the American Heart Association fundraiser
-Share personal stories on how heart disease has touched our personal lives
-Tell you how you, as nursing student, can volunteer at our CNSA booth at the walk by taking blood pressures and measuring BMIs
-Get you super, way, totally, seriously and utterly STOKED for the walk on November 10th AND help spread awareness about heart disease: the #1 killer in America
Yes, it's super short notice, BUT I know Dr. McGuire's critical care class gets out at 1pm on Wednesday AND my 3rd semester basic students don't have class that day SO I'm calling you guys out!!! I will be speaking and telling my story about how I lost both of my grandpa's to heart disease at a young age and would LOVE you support <3

American Heart Association Walk

1st American Heart Association Walk in Long Beach and FUNDRAISER
5K (3.1 miles) walk/run

Why:
- To raise awareness of the #1 killer in America, heart disease
- To volunteer at CNSA's wellness booth where we will measure blood pressure and BMI
- Fundraise for a good cause
- Compete against your CLASSMATES: +5 points for your class if you sign in at our booth at the walk and +1 point for every person you bring along who is not in the nursing program
- Compete against other organizations on campus; a few other clubs at our school have made teams and we told them we could get a bigger turnout than them ;)
and don't forget to make a $5 donation! Keep your eye out for fun fundraising events that can help you earn more points for your classes :)
