1st Semester Student Mixer
Who: 1st semester students [AND upper classmen volunteers needed]
What: An opportunity for 1st semester students to chat with 2nd semester (or other upper classmen) students in the program about clinicals, professors, study tips and life as a nursing student. Lunch will be provided as well :)
When: THIS WEDNESDAY February 6th. 11am-1245pm
Where: The Soroptimist House
Why: 1st semester students will benefit GREATLY from this insightful and stress-reducing event. Upper classmen will help their fellow students AND earn points for their class (see below)
Class Competition: Points will be awarded to upper classmen (does NOT include 1st semester) who volunteer at this event. Please arrive early to help set up if necessary and stay after to sign in with Pia.
+5 points per CNSA member
+1 point per NON-CNSA member

Make Valentine's Cards for Kids at Miller's
Who: Everyone in the nursing program AND a local Girl Scout Troop
What: Making Valentine's Day cards for the kids at Long Beach Miller's Children Hospital for Valentine's Day with a local Girl Scout Troop... oh and did I mention- the Girl Scouts will be selling COOKIES
When: THIS THURSDAY FEBRUARY 7th. 5pm-7pm

What: Collecting Pop Tabs for The Ronald McDonald House in Long Beach

School Supplies Drive: ENDS FRI OCT 5th
Last day to donate school supplies to the Long Beach Women's Shelter will be Friday October 5th. All the classes have items in their boxes and the community service committee is so thankful for ALL the great donations thus far! Can you rally your class by Friday to catch up to Basic?!? Here are the scores as of yesterday Sept 28th.......

Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month: Raise Money & AWARENESS

What:
CLASS COMPETITION. 100 points per 16.9 oz water filled to the top with DIMES.
When:
Starts today, Ends Friday September 28th
Where:
Ask your class reps or find your water bottle at the front desk of the new nursing building
Why:
1 water bottle of dimes = $100 towards the Jessie Rees Foundation to create "JoyJars" for children with cancer; giant jars filled with joy, love and of course TOYS!

Have you ever wondered...which program is better? Basic, Trimester, ELM or ADN to BSN? I'm sure we all have our own opinions but let's put our class pride to the TEST!!!
For the first time EVER, CNSA will hold a BATTLE OF THE CLASSES during Fall semester to determine a winner. Earn points for your class by participating in certain CNSA events and win FREE FOOD DURING FINALS WEEK for the program who comes out on top!

RULES:
- You MUST be a CNSA member to enjoy the food at the end of the semester AND to participate in certain events (Not a member? CLICK HERE to download an application now & support your class!!)
- Events that earn your class points & the amount of points your class will receive if you participate will be predetermined by the CNSA board at the beginning of each month.
- A score board will be kept in the Learning Center to keep track of your points
- The teams are: Basic, Trimester, ELM & ADN to BSN
- The battle ends Monday December 3
- The prize (free food during finals week) will be offered, well, during finals week. & only to CNSA members.
- No cheating, we're nurses with integrity, honor...you know the rest ;)
- HAVE fun! And may the best class win!

When: Starts today ENDS FRIDAY OCT. 5th!!
Where: Boxes for each class are in the Learning Center of the old nursing building. Place items in the box of the program you belong to (basic, tri, elm, adn)
Why: Benefits the Women's Shelter in Long Beach where abused mothers/children stay
AND each item is worth +1 point towards your class's total score
Boxes corresponding to each program have been placed in the learning center. Looks like Basic is in the lead.
(Rules: pens, pencils will be added together in groups of 10; please do not take items from one box & put it into another, we are in the nursing program, not kindergarten; lightly used does not apply to erasers, pens/pencils; competition ends on Friday Oct 5th at 5pm when the learning center closes)
