Supply Drive to Benefit Long Beach Women's Shelter

Who: Basic, Tri, ELM & ADN to BSN Students!

What: School supplies drive (mainly: dividers, binders, notebooks, pens, pencils... but anything you have is great. NEW or LIGHTLY used please)

When: Starts today ENDS FRIDAY OCT. 5th!!

Where: Boxes for each class are in the Learning Center of the old nursing building. Place items in the box of the program you belong to (basic, tri, elm, adn)

Why: Benefits the Women's Shelter in Long Beach where abused mothers/children stay 
AND each item is worth +1 point towards your class's total score 

 Boxes corresponding to each program have been placed in the learning center. Looks like Basic is in the lead.

(Rules: pens, pencils will be added together in groups of 10; please do not take items from one box & put it into another, we are in the nursing program, not kindergarten; lightly used does not apply to erasers, pens/pencils; competition ends on Friday Oct 5th at 5pm when the learning center closes)

What: Powerpoint Presentation on how to land your first RN job in the specialty of your choice!

Where:  CBA 111

When: Wednesday, September 19th, 5 to 7pm

Community Service Event: Making cards/posters for the Veteran's at the VA & Long Beach Firefighters

 Join CNSA to thank those who protect our country & our community in remembrance of September 11th.  Sign & decorate posters for the Veteran's who are patients at the VA Hospital & make thank you cards for the firefighters of Station 22  

WHEN: TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 11th @ 9am-12noon
WHERE: Glass Classroom in Learning Center (Old Nursing Building)
Please feel free to stay for however long you want! We will be there the entire time with food & drinks!

CLUB FAIR DAY/APPAREL SALE

Thursday, September 6th @ CSULB's Club Fair
 11am-2pm in the Quad

Come to the CNSA booth to buy apparel from the nursing program (sweatshirts, license plate frames, thermos, t-shirts etc).
AND bring your fellow nursing student/pre-nursing friends to get involved in CNSA! :)

First Semester Student Luncheon=Free FOOD :)


Who: 1st & 2nd semester students, but we definitely need more volunteers so 3rd/4th is welcome to come!
 
What: 1st Semester Mixer/Luncheon
 
When: Wednesday September 5; 11am-12:45pm
 
Where: Soroptimist House

Why: Answering questions for the first semester students about school and second semester.  We all remember being new, so let's welcome these new students into our program the right way: with great company and FREE food for CNSA members!! :)

Community Service Event: Homeless Drop-In Center


Who: Nurse Anne, a wonderful Nurse who devotes the 1st Sunday of every month to setting up a booth to help the homeless

What: 2 volunteers needed to assist her with taking blood pressures, glucose checks, patient education, and dressing changes

When: 1st Sunday of the month, September 2, 2012 12:30pm-4pm

Where: First Congressional Church, 241 Cedar Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802

Why: This is SUCH a great experience for students in ALL semesters! It really opens your eyes to patients in a different demographic than we are used to seeing and it is truly an amazing cause :)

NOTE: As of 8/28 Jade and Gina have volunteered for this but there will be another opportunity in OCTOBER!
