Toy Drive!!!! Nov 19-Dec 10th




Holiday Toy Drive
Nov 19th-Dec 10th





 
+5 points per toy
+1 point per wrapping paper roll
Toys should be: nonviolent, for infants to 17 year olds & new 

Toys will be donated to the 'For the Child' organization & the Long Beach Women's Shelter. Both of these amazing places provide a safe environment for the children of Long Beach who have been abused or have been in families where domestic violence forced their mothers to seek refuge.  If anyone needs a gift, it's them.  

Please donate what is appropriate for your budget and remember that even the smallest of gifts will leave a HUGE imprint on their lives this holiday season!




NEED SOME HELP THINKING OF IDEAS:

Infants&toddlers: balls, bath toys, baby board books, stuffed animals

Ages 3-12 years: Play-doh&accessories, balls, Barbie&Ken dolls, LegoKits, Puzzles

Ages 13+: bath gels&lotions, CSULB shirts/hats/sweatshirts, journals, slippers, headphones, journals 

All ages&family gifts: books, movies, playing cards, board games, art supplies

Well... the BEST meeting of Fall semester is right around the corner! Yes, that's right, it's the December Pot Luck Meeting :)

Please sign-up on the Google Doc to bring an item for everyone to enjoy.  We need a lot of food, because for some reason this seems to be the meeting with the most attendance ;)

Canned Food Drive Ends Monday Nov 19th!!

 Only one week left to get your canned donations in!!!!!

Who:  All Nursing Students!

What: Canned Food Drive: Donate canned fruits/veggies, pasta sauce, boxed cereal etc & reusable bags

When: Nov 5th-Monday Nov 19th!

Where: Drop donations off in your class boxes in the Learning Center

Why: To benefit a Food Bank called Grateful Hearts. This is the food bank members of The Village use & they also provide for U.S Veterans and disaster relief around the world.

This is the BUSIEST time of year for Grateful Hearts, so it would be great if we could provide them food to hand out JUST in time for Thanksgiving!! By donating food you are donating a little part of your heart to warm their home or dinner on this special day.

+2 points per reusable bag!

Annual College of Health & Human Services Student Mixer

 Who: Everyone!

What: College of Health & Human Services Student Mixer.
            Free food, refreshments, and bowling!


When: Tuesday, November 6th 11am-2pm

Where: USU bowling lanes

Why:  To encourage voting, the CHHS is holding an opportunity drawing for all CHHS students that shows proof of voting! Tons of prizes including CHHS Tshirts! 

Please stop by to meet other students of CHHS and bring your proof of voting to win prizes!

August, September & October Community Service Successes!

 School Supplies Drive: a total of 392 (yes you read that right:three HUNDRED and ninety two!) school supplies items were donated to the Long Beach Women's Shelter

Pediatric Cancer Dime Collection: a total of $802.20 was raised to be donated to the Jessie Rees Joy Jars Foundation to create jars of joy for kids battling cancer

Alive & Running 5K: 2 basic students and 1 trimester student supported suicide prevention and ran a 5k for this cause

Breast Cancer 5K: CSULB Nursing raised $646 buying pink bracelets & $835 from our tshirt sales! That's a total of $1481!! With the rest of the donations, the CSULB Nursing Team met our goal of $2,000 to go towards the fight against breast cancer! 

AND NOW FOR THE MID SEMESTER CLASS COMPETITION TOTALS!!!!!!

Starting Monday November 5th, CNSA will have more opportunities for your class to earn more points and help out the Long Beach Community during the Community Service Committee's Season of Giving. Stay tuned or contact your class rep next week! :) To earn +1 point for your class, purchase a BIG RED HEART for $1 to help show your dedication for Heart Disease Awareness (ends November 9th).

I am so proud but am also so much more thankful to be the Community Service Director of CNSA and to be surrounded by future and current nurses who inspire me through their actions.
